St. Vitus

St. Vitus

One of the early Christians, Vitus was a young boy, little more than a child. He came from Sicily. The Roman Emperor Diocletian tried to force him to abandon Christianity, although he was indebted to him for healing his son. Vitus was protected by God and the power of prayer, so that he was not harmed either by boiling pitch or a lion.
God called him to himself in the year 303 at the young age of 12.
600 years later St. Wenceslas acquired a relic of St. Vitus and started to build the church of St. Vitus in Prague Castle. St. Vitus thus became one of the patron saints of the Czech lands.

His legacy:
He reminds of the way God's grace can work through small children. The prayer of children can ward off all adversity.
