St. Sigismund

St. Sigismund

A Burgundian king who lived around the year 500. His jealous wife persuaded him to commit a heinous crime. He was immediately aware of his guilt and overcome by remorse he started to live a life of repentance as a hermit.
His remains were in fact brought to Prague as the result of a misunderstanding. The Emperor and Bohemian King Charles IV, who was brought up in France, mistakenly thought that St. Sigismund came of Slavonic stock, and asked for his remains while on a journey to France. Today the relics repose in one of the chapels of the cathedral of St. Vitus.

His legacy:
Even if we commit a transgression, through remorse and repentance we can achieve holiness.
